Today was the fifth day of two-weeks practice days. We went with our groupmates to explore the historical place. We saw places that we did not know and see. Our next memorial place was Boboi Poraduz Mausoleum.
In the southeastern part of Bukhara, opposite Sallyah-khon gate, there us Boboi Poraduz Mausoleum. The patron of all artisans who dealt with the needle-shoemakers, tailors, gold embroiders, etc is buried in the Mausoleum. Boboi Poraduz lived around the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th centuries.
His full name is Abu Bakr Muhammad al Iskof. The word "Iskof" is of Arabic origin, means shoemaker, "Poraduz" in Tajik means "putting patches". There are many legends associated with his name. One of them says that someone who was going to make a pilgrimage (hajj) to distant Mecca asked Boboi Poraduz to make him durable shoes for the journey. The master made it from a watermelon peel and managed to convince the customer of the strength of his product. And a few years later, these shoes allegedly without a single flaw, having shared with the owner all the hardships and hardships of a long journey returned safely with him. Since then, Boboi Poraduz became the Pir (Head) of the skilled craftsmen.
